Residential Alarm (Safety) Systems

Residential alarm or safety systems are not a one size fits all. Here at CCNS , we will guide you through the basics and give you an over view of what should be considered to protect your home, family and property.

Once you have a basic idea of what is required or have further questions, Contact Us and one of our knowledgeable staff will provide you with information specific to your property and needs.

Things to consider;

 •Do you have a land line (phone line) in the home or do you rely on cellular phone(s)?

Traditional alarm systems used a phone line to contact the monitoring station. Today's system are now able to utilize Cellular and in some cases internet communication with the monitoring station, allowing for faster communication while reducing cost of a required landline.
The systems installed and serviced by CCNS Technology are able to be converted from one format to another without replacing the entire system.

 •Do you use more than one entrance to enter the home (front door, garage, etc)

Keypads (the physical device installed to arm and disarm) should be placed near or at entries that are commonly used to come and go from the home. Any enclosed outbuildings such as garages which will contain alarm components should also contain a keypad, although not required.

When planning for your future alarm safety system, always remember to include fire and flood devices, even in your garage.

Today, many insurance companies are pushing their customers to have a monitored system in their home, and in most cases, its not strictly for intrusion detection. Fire, Flood (water damage) followed by theft, are statistically the most expensive insurance claims, and most devastating.
We all have smoke and carbon dioxide detectors in our home (required by law), which is great. These save human lives. What happens when we are out of the home and a fire breaks out? Tucker our intrusion prevention dog can notify us intruders, but he can't call the fire department.
Monitored Smoke and Carbon Dioxide detectors send a signal to the monitoring station when triggered, which in turn has key holders and fire department notified. CCNS Technology installs and services a number of different smoke and CO detectors, both in wired and wireless, as well as rate of rise detectors which are ideal for garages where a snow mobile, motorcycle or other fuel burning device may be stored.
Flood and water detectors are another must have which tend to be overlooked with it comes to alarm systems. Sump pumps, water tanks and other water devices will fail. A call from the monitoring station letting you know your sump pump level has exceeded its normal level will save you thousands in damages. Every CCNS Safety System has monitored intrusion, fire and flood equipment (unless declined by the user). This will not only yield the best insurance discount, but will also offer the best for your family and home.
